How to Apply Press-On Nails Like a Pro: Runzie Nailsโ 4-Week Method ๐
How to Apply Press-On Nails Like a Pro: Runzie Nailsโ 4-Week Method ๐
Most people apply press-on nails completely wrong โ and itโs not the glue or the nails that fail you. Itโs yourย prep!
If your nails keep popping off after just a few days, youโre not alone. As a professional press-on nail artist and the creator behind Runzie Nails, Iโm here to show you the right way to apply press-on nails so they last up to four weeks โ yes, really.
Step 1: Push Back Your Cuticles
This step is everything. If you skip it, you might end up gluing your nails to your skin โ which hurts (a lot) when removing โ and it causes lifting too.
Use the wooden cuticle stick that comes in every Runzie Nails set to gently push back your cuticles. Then, lightly scrape off the thin white cuticle film on your natural nail surface.
โจ Pro tip: Taking this extra minute can make your nails last days โ even weeks โ longer.

Step 2: Buff Your Natural Nails
Buffing creates texture that helps the glue stick better. Grab the coarse side of your buffer and lightly go over each nail until the surface turns matte.
This helps the press-ons grip firmly and prevents premature lifting.

Step 3 (Optional): Trim or Clean Up Your Cuticles
For that super natural, salon-quality finish, carefully trim any excess cuticle using a pair of clean, sharp nippers.
This step is optional, but it really helps your handmade press-on nails blend seamlessly โ like an actual set of gel extensions.
โ ๏ธ If youโre new to this, watch a tutorial before trimming to avoid cutting too deep.

Step 4: Clean With Alcohol Pads
Oils and residue will prevent the glue from bonding properly.
Wipe your nails thoroughly with an alcohol pad (included in your Runzie Nails application kit), and make sure not to touch your nails afterward.

Step 5: Apply the Nail Glue
Now for the main event! Cut the tip of your glue bottle, and keep it upright to avoid spills.
Hereโs how to do it right:
-
Add a small dot of glue inside the press-on nail.
ย
-
Spread it evenly using the glue tip.
ย
-
Do the same on your natural nail โ just a thin layer works best.

To apply, start at a 45-degree angle from your cuticle and slowly press down while aligning the nail straight.
Wiggle it slightly to remove air bubbles, then hold for 30 seconds.
๐ง Avoid touching water for at least three hours after application to let everything cure properly.
Step 6: Shape and Perfect Your Fit
If a nail feels slightly too wide or doesnโt match your cuticle shape, donโt worry โ you can easily fix that.
Use a nail file and gently shape from underneath the nail tip at an angle so you donโt damage the top coat.
Bonus Tips to Help Your Press-Ons Last Longer
-
Avoid soaking your hands in hot water right after applying.
-
Keep a mini glue bottle with you for touch-ups on the go.
-
Wear gloves when cleaning or washing dishes.
